Dreaming - esitys menneisyydestä

Lavalla on neljä esiintyjää ja muusikko. Sanan, liikkeen, musiikin ja mämmin avulla he uneksivat esille kadonneen suomalaisen menneisyyden; sen maiseman, mielen ja voiman. Soittimet alkavat soittaa esiintyjiä ja ajantaju muuttuu.

Dreaming on tie tunnetun historian ulkopuolelle. Näitä säkeitä ei kansatiede tunne. Nämä legendat voi nähdä vain unessa.

Esitys perustuu väitteelle, jonka mukaan jokainen ihminen kantaa sisällään kansakuntansa koko historiaa ja – kenties – myös sen tulevaisuutta. Se on moderni transsi, ehdotus siitä, miten loveen langetaan rumpukoneiden aikana.

Esitys perustuu kevään 2004 Uni ja Aika –työpajassa heränneille ajatuksille ja työtavoille.

Esitys kestää noin 1,5 tuntia.

Dreaming - a performance from the unknown Finland

There are four performers and a musician with a synthesiser on stage. By using music, story telling, butoh-dance and rye budding as tools of dreaming, they try to bring alive the ancient, forgotten Finland.

Dreaming is a suggestion of a modern trance. It is based on a claim that each and every one of us carries the whole history of one’s nation inside, and perhaps also the future. The performers try to get a connection beyond the written history and express the ancient times of Finland; the forms of life and culture that have vanished. They become seers. Is it possible? Yes and no. The performance is also an ironic portrait of modern Finnish human nature; completely lost with identity and at the same time bored and in revolt with the official picture of the past and our forefathers.

The dramaturgy of Dreaming is a sequence of tasks. Within this structure the performers improvise. For every performance they change tasks so that each performance becomes unique.

The duration is about 1,5 hours.

First series of Dreamings took place in the fortress island Suomenlinna in Helsinki 11. – 29.10.2005.
